Mergers and Acquisitions
Recent crisis in the financial sector has produced a number of high profile M&As. But a majority of M&As fail to produce synergy. One of the reasons is that managers focus on task integration and neglect people integration. Studies suggest that unless both are attended to, the potential for failure is high. We are currently involved in setting up a research project to study the emotional impact of M&As on the workforce and the consequences for the merged business.
Top Team Decision Making
The decisions made by the top team in any organisation are critical. With wide ranging, long term effects, the wrong decision can be disastrous. But a considerable body of research shows the impact that cognitive and emotional biases have on the decisions top teams make. We are currently looking at ways to identify the biases that operate within a team and how their impact can be minimised.
Organisational Adaptiveness
Our research has already identified the capabilities that organisations need to remain agile in the face of environmental change. We continue to build on our previous research in this area, identifying ways that organisations can improve their capability to change.
